This is her 12th year... Where has the time gone?!
Since her birthday fell on a school day, we decided to hold her party on the weekend after. But, I surprised her at lunch ON her birthday with a slice of chocolate cake & some cookies for her friends.
She was completely surprised & a bit embarrassed when her friends started singing "Happy Birthday" & the entire cafeteria joined in!!
We ate her birthday dinner (family only) at Shake Shack in Yas Mall. It's truly the best burgers to be had in these parts even if it will set you back over $100 for simple burgers & fries. Seriously.
Finally, the weekend arrived & the party was eminent. She had decided to have 9 little girls over for 4 hours of "hanging out". I did convince her to ask the girls to bring their skates, scooters, or rollerblades for a little spin around the Al Zeina Promenade. She agreed.
Devin & Olivia helped get the house ready while Madeline changed clothes.
Then the giggly girls started to arrive...
I've forgotten how loud a tiled floor area can get with 11 kids in it. LOL! I was actually relieved when they headed out to skate.
Meanwhile, the cafe downstairs delivered the cake & pizzas.
So the best little perk of living in Abu Dhabi is that you can literally have ANY food item delivered... at no extra charge. Seriously! So, that's what I did.
Cafe Firenze is downstairs in D block. We live on the 8th floor in C block. I ordered the cake & 6 pizzas for a 6 PM delivery.
They had a great time...
Ate pizza ...
Made ice cream sundaes...
And giggled the whole time.
When it came time to light the candles & sing, it became an international affair. They first sung in English, then Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Greek, & Italian.
I think it may be the best birthday she's had so far...
